It’s that time of year when I start (obsessively) thinking about where I would like to go on my holidays. Last year I headed out on a surf trip in Portugal (to the ever-so-amazing Surf Experience in Lagos), but this year I’m thinking something further afield. Pinterest, of course, is fuelling my desire to go somewhere either a) Ridiculously tropical or b) Insanely photogenic. Here are a few snippets of inspiration…

The Valley of the Mills, Italy
Tubing in Hawaii
NYC… how have I never been?
Whitsunday Islands, Australia
The world tallest water slide – Fortaleza, Brazil
And while we’re on the subject, here are a few of my favourite places I’ve been…
Pisa, Italy – hugely underrated. It’s often billed as a tourist trap for those wanted to see the leaning tower, which is of course, brilliant, but maybe not worth an entire trip! I was lucky enough to have a friend living there who knew all the good places to go. (And by that I mean pizza places). It has a great nightlife and beautiful beaches too, ideal.
Gozo, Malta – A bit of a unsung hero, this place seems to have become gradually more popular over the last couple of years. The much smaller sister island of Malta, Gozo has oodles of seafood, beautiful beaches (of varying colours) and was one of the quietest places I’ve ever been on holiday to.
Florence, Italy – I was never in doubt that Florence was going to blow me away. We walked around for hours, just pottering and eating ice cream. Heaven.
Akyaka, Turkey – We stumbled on this quiet fishing village a few years back, and it was still as charming when we returned in 2011. This time round we rented tiny little huts a stones throw from the beach. It is very, very quiet which suited us – we went as two couples – days were spent chilling on the beach or taking a boat trip around the islands (£10 for a 12 hour day of island hopping, including lunch) and evenings were spent drinking beer (Efes, you have to try it) and playing cards before going for a late meal, usually mixed grills for the boys!
‘I went to Istanbul and all I got were these crappy photos’… seriously. These do not do this place justice in any shape or form – it is my favourite city I’ve ever been to.
And let us not forget that time in Ayia Napa…. oh wait, what happens in ‘Napa stays in ‘Napa.
