I love going to Cornwall off season – it’s cheap, peaceful, and the beaches are empty other than a few locals walking their dogs.
The title of this post definitely makes the weekend seem more naughty than it was – 7 friends having an (ever so slightly indulgent) food and liquid filled weekend in Newquay. We decided to beat the post christmas blues by going just after new year – unfortunately in the last 6 weeks I have acquired a new job and a new abode so I’ve unfortunately been lacking in the internet (and therefore blogging) department…. again.
Thanks go to Jack for the photobomb.
Bundled up to the nines!
There’s always one.
Before anyone in my family comments on the below photo – I’m standing at the BOTTOM of the slope, ok!
Now I’m not quite sure what happens after this, but it almost seems as though we girls didn’t exist on the first evening….!
But at least it looks like the boys had fun anyway.
OH, the concentration!
The next day was grey and miserable. But like true Brits we went for a walk anyway.
The local surfers weren’t put off either.
The final full day called for brunch at the best joint in town, Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen at Watergate Bay.
Quite possibly my favourite location for a restaurant…
apparently Mike had said something offensive or embarrassing.
Cos it certainly wasn’t the food causing those unimpressed faces, that’s for sure.
Following a hearty brunch and a brisk walk, we felt we deserved an indulgent treat. You know, cos we’d earnt it….
Alas I couldn’t take photos inside the Headland Hotel spa, but Jack and Mike put on this lovely display outside instead.
The final evening called for more games, and birthday cake for the birthday boy, Mike.
Followed by a glass of fizz on the beach in the morning, before our sad departure.
I was sad to say goodbye but I will always be back, Cornwall.
