The weather in London has been pretty darn awesome recently, and I’ve been doing everything I can to make the most of it.
Andy and I had a cheeky weekday off together a while back, so we spent the day being tourists.
First off we headed to Borough Market, where we headed straight for our favourite chorizo place – Andy went for the chorizo sandwich which was HUGE and I went for stew with paella which is always delicious. We sat in the sunshine in the churchyard and congratulated ourselves on an excellent idea.
Monmouth coffee seems to be something of an institution at Borough Market, but the queues are normally horrendous. Luckily for us, the world and their wife went to work that day.
In all fairness to Monmouth, the coffee is delicious. Smooth, rich and perfectly balanced.
We then decided that if we were going to be true tourists for the day, we ought to get Boris Bikes. This was my first time hiring one and I can’t believe I’ve been missing out for so long. We’ve found a stash of them behind our new flat so once a helmet has been purchased I shall be attempting to get around by bike more often.
We headed for Buckingham palace…
But Andy wasn’t impressed with Queenie’s pad.
So we headed for Hyde Park, where Spring really was (pardon my pun) in bloom.
Last weekend saw London bathed in sunshine again, so Louise, Steph and I headed to the cafe at Brockwell lido. When Louise suggested a cafe at a swimming pool I was hesitant; thinking it would be all overpriced sarnies and warm cans of coke. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The building is wonderful, the view is pretty and the food is spot on.
Unfortunately we were too busy gazing out over the pool and wolfing down our late lunches to get any photos of the inside, but it is very pretty.
If you’re in the area, I’d recommend checking it out. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the menu changes each month to ensure all the food is seasonal. I’ve heard the breakfasts are fab, so I will most definitely be popping back.
It does get very busy, so its recommended you book, even for breakfast!
