Apologies for my absence of late – I have no excuse other than being a busy bee.
I now have a huge stack of photos and a backlog of posts to come hopefully in the following weeks… Let’s begin with a trip to Rome I made way back in April.
I travelled with a gaggle of girls, in order to celebrate the birthdays of Amy and Jess (not that we needed much of an excuse of course!) We hopped over on a plane late Thursday night, and headed to our Air BnB apartment, which was glorious. Exhausted from a few proseccos in the airport and the on the plane… we decided to hold out on exploring until the Friday.
We awoke to the most glorious sunshine and headed out in search of some breakfast. Sadly we didn’t find the artisan bakery we’d been after, but ate some little nutella boats instead. Washed down with an italiano coffee.
We then headed to the Trevi fountain and Spanish steps to soak up the atmosphere…
We had to do the touristy thing. Sadly I missed!
We made a very important pact – nothing to drink but prosecco. Not entirely achievable, but we strived on nonetheless…
I think Fliss’ face says it all.
Sadly we were too engrossed in coversation (over Prosecco of course) to take any snaps of the food but it was delicious, and I highly recommend Grazia and Graziella.
The next morning started with orange juice… and prosecco.
After which we headed to the Collisseum. Which we had indeed tried to visit the day before, but were terrified by the queues of hundreds of people! Instead we just booked online that evening for the next day, and breezed right in.
We then perused some vintage shops where Fliss found this jazzy little number… she can’t resist a bit of sparkle that girl! Fortunately we declared it entirely impractical, and we headed off in search of more prosecco.
Before returning back to the flat for takeaway pizza, including a delicious nutella pizza for afters, presented ever so elegantly by Annie and Em Si…
A sneaky snapshot of our gorgeous flat.
Which we found at Hotel Raphael.
One day, I will stay here.
Before we headed off to the airport, we squeezed in a gelato and a wander to the Vatican.
What an amazing whirlwind trip with some of my favourite ladies. I cannot recommend Rome enough, from the food to the architecture to the people. Now to plan the next mini break….
