4 weeks ago yesterday, something very special happened.
We were in the most beautiful setting possible, Lech in Austria, having a pretty perfect skiing holiday.
This day was the 8th anniversary since we’d been on our first date. After a morning of skiing and a spaghetti bolognese lunch Andy asked me if I would like a present and skied right off, down to the bottom of the mountain…
Where there was a taxi waiting. In we hopped, me pulling the most confused face possible.
We drove 4 minutes up the road to what looked like a garage. I finally asked “What on earth are we doing?”
“That” he said.
“feuihfkwjeahfjkweghkewuARGHHHHH” my insides said.
After a minute or so of intense shaking, mostly on my part, we hopped in.
I have never seen anything like it.
It was the most thoughtful and generous anniversary present anyone could ask for. Made my airport purchased chocolates look a bit pathetic, I’ll admit.
Later that afternoon, still reeling from earlier’s activities, we headed to one of our favourite spots, the Rud Alpe bar on the mountain. There’s a particularly cute wooden heart where we’d had pictures taken before. Andy insisted we meet the family, and have another.
Little did I know he was pulling this horribly nervous face…
And then he popped the big question.
It was so special to be able to share this moment with some of our family, but we missed the rest of you!
The rest of the trip was a whirlwind of days spent skiing and nights spent celebrating. I managed to squeeze in a bit of wedding googling on my phone, of course.
On the final morning of the holiday, we were treated to a jaw dropping sunrise.
And for once, I wasn’t sad to go home. Off we went to celebrate and begin the planning…
